David C. Skrilow is the Founding Member of the firm. He provides strategic counseling and representation to a diverse range of clients including large public and private business organizations as well as individuals. His practice focuses on real estate development, sales and acquisitions, commercial leasing, construction, brokerage and property management.

 

Mr. Skrilow’s professional activities are extensive and diverse. He led the legal team of The O’Connor Group in its ownership and development of 20 regional shopping malls, and prepared development agreements and construction contracts for owners and construction managers of shopping centers throughout the United States. He has represented a variety of clients, including a European bank in its commercial lending to developers; a major institutional insurance company in its redevelopment of a community shopping center in New Jersey; several developers in the formation and building of entertainment and lifestyle centers in Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and North Carolina; and a major national landlord in anchor leasing and sales-leaseback arrangements involving supermarkets and big box retailers.

 

Mr. Skrilow has also provided strategic counseling to developers pertaining to the ownership and management of their real estate portfolios including office buildings and shopping centers; a Fortune 500 company in the disposition of properties in the metropolitan New York area; a major institutional owner in its disposition of Section 1031 properties throughout the United States; an institutional lender  in connection with loan restructuring; build-outs to meet LEEDS certification; and retailers in their roll-out and expansion of stores throughout the United States.

 

Mr. Skrilow is a member of the American Bar Association and International Council of Shopping Centers. He is noted in the field of real estate law and has contributed to the following publications: Expansion and Renovations of Shopping Centers, where he served as Contributing Editor, ICSC, 2016; American Bar Association, Real Property Division as Contributing Editor; and Warren’s Wead Treatise on Condominiums, published by Mathew Bender. He has shared his legal knowledge among his peers at various conferences and seminars – giving speeches, and serving as a panelist.

 

Mr. Skrilow earned his J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 1977 after completing his B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) at the State University of New York at Albany in 1974. In addition to his legal practice, he is active in civic and philanthropic endeavors, among them The Posse Foundation and The Rye Youth Council.

 

Bruce Brookoff

Bruce Brookoff brings over 20 years of experience to the firm as a transactional commercial real estate attorney, with extensive expertise in commercial leasing for both retail and office properties.

 

Mr. Brookoff has negotiated, drafted and executed numerous property management vendor agreements and anchor store agreements for owners and developers of properties throughout the United States. Property types include shopping, strip, regional and “lifestyle” centers as well as supermarkets, department stores, movie theaters, restaurants and office buildings.

 

His experience extends to negotiating and drafting leases, including ground leases, on behalf of national retail tenants such as Christian Dior and Elizabeth Arden for their U.S. store locations. He has led leasing and management administration for a major developer that owned and managed a portfolio of 25 office buildings, as well as counseled clients on all aspects of their leasing endeavors.

 

Mr. Brookoff graduated from Harvard Law School in 1985 and completed his B.A. at Brooklyn College. He has offered his services to one of the firm’s pro bono clients, The Posse Foundation, in its leasing of office space in New York City, Los Angeles and Boston. He is a member of the New York City Bar Association. Mr. Brookoff resides in Park Slope, Brooklyn, where he counsels his cooperative apartment corporation in its legal matters.

 

Joseph Macri

Joseph Macri brings over 20 years of experience to the practice as a transactional commercial real estate attorney.

 

Mr. Macri has extensive experience as a leasing attorney on a variety of real estate matters. He served for ten years as Head Leasing Counsel, Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary of a NYSE traded REIT (CDR). Prior to Mr. Macri’s tenure at CDR, he was an associate attorney at a Manhattan law firm representing institutional owners on retail and office leasing transactions in New York. In addition, Mr. Macri has experience representing both lenders and borrowers in commercial lending matters.

 

Mr. Macri has negotiated leases with such tenants as Giant Food, Aldi, Ross Dress for Less, TJX Companies (Marshall’s, TJ Maxx and Home Goods), Staples, Tractor Supply, Gold’s Gym, Planet Fitness, Chipotle, Panera Bread, Starbucks, and Subway.

 

Mr. Macri graduated from New York Law School in 1993 after earning his B.A. from The State University of New York at Binghamton in 1990. He is admitted to practice in New York State and the State of New Jersey. Mr. Macri presently resides in Floral Park, New York.
